Ceramic Watches

Recent advancements in the production of ceramic materials have allowed them to be used to make watches. The material can be formed into intricate shapes and hence, used to make watch cases and bracelets. The advancements mean that the material is super hard but will resist chipping. Ceramic watches can also be made in any colour as the colour is all the way through the watch, not just a plating. This means that colours will never wear off. Ceramics are also very stable, which means that colours such as white, will remain pure white throughout its life, and wont yellow as plastics can do. The surface finish on ceramic watches is highly polished, giving an almost unreal glass look. The biggest trend recently has been for ceramic watches to be combined with more traditional materials such as steel and gold plating. Most watches have more rounded edges to give durability, although nowadays the material can be ground to give different surface finishes with crisp edging. The ceramic can also be pure matt finished to provide an altogether different look. Ceramic watches are also resistant to corrosion, and being hypo-allergenic, they wont cause any skin reactions. Brands synonymous with ceramic materials are Channel, GC and Skagen. Due to the materials qualities, more brands will have ceramic ranges with ever more finishes and styles.
