Watch Dial Restoration and Refinishing
As part of our comprehensive watch care service we offer sympathetic re-finishing of your watch dial.
Our in-house service center has extensive experience in watch dial restoration. We generally restore the dial to as close to the original design as possible. Parts of the dial such as the batons or numbers can either be polished or completely re-plated depending on the requirements of the customer. We can also re-plate the hands if necessary. Older dials often used luminescent paints that were highly corrosive to both the dial and chrome finished hands.
We often combine this with a service on the watch movement at the same time to ensure that the degraded dial hasn’t left any debris floating inside the watch. The movement, dial and hands all have to be separated anyway for the dial processing to start, making the movement service a more economically viable option. The movement service comes with a 6 months warranty.
Dial re-painting is an artistic process and is not to be rushed. Generally we would allow up to a month for the more complex watches to be completed. We have carried out many restorations, particularly on watches with sentimental value, from lower end brands up to Rolex, Longines, Tag Heuer and Breitling. Please email with your requirements to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the watch repair center and showroom in the Jewellery Quarter for quotations.
The watch dial featured above is a vintage gents, with seconds sub dial, that had suffered long term salt water damage. The corrosion had pitted the dial extensively around the edges.
