Happy Birthday Fortis Watches

Fortis has reached the grand age of 100 and are celebrating their Centenary Birthday in style, by introducing several new Limited Edition watches to their range.  With age has come an immense advancement in technology. The icing on their birthday cake has to be the production of the F-43 FLIEGER 703.20.92.LC05 Limited Edition Chronograph Alarm GMT Chronometer C.O.S.C. Considered the Mona Lisa within the watch industry. Fortis watches have produced 100 individually numbered pieces, a must have for the connoisseur watch collector.
This is the world’s first “Alarm automatic chronograph GMT Limited Edition” watch that has ever been produced with two separate power reserves. One power reserve is dedicated to the movement; the second power reserve is for the alarm. Designed with an abundance of features which can be overwhelming and complex to the wearer Fortis have surpassed themselves by creating a user friendly, easy to understand format.  So what attributes does the F-43 Flieger 703.20.92.LCO5 has, giving it a price tag of £15,000?
The F-43 FLIEGER line shows a sharp profile and is the result of decades of consequent model upgrading. Starting with a classical, elegant 3-hand automatic with big day and big date indication, followed by the chronograph and the patented chronograph alarm chronometer C.O.S.C., the centennial is crowned by a technically demanding and unique F-43 FLIEGER CHRONOGRAPH ALARM GMT CHRONOMETER C.O.S.C.. The complex Fortis calibre F-2012. This mechanical masterpiece consisting of more than 500 parts incorporates the patented automatic chronograph alarm with two spring barrels and two power reserve indications, one for the alarm and one for the movement. Additionally, a 2nd time zone UTC/GMT is visible in a window at position 12h and an AM/PM indication visualises the time from 0 – 12h/12 – 24 h.
Fortis have introduced eight Limited Editions to its Centennial range. The Fortis F-43 FLIEGER “Silver Line”, model no: 700.20.92 Si05 retails at a more affordable £2020.00 but still has plentiful features, including an automatic movement enclosed in a highly polished 43 mm steel case. A glass case back allows a unique insight into the internal workings. Sapphire crystal glass with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. A glass case back allows a unique insight into the internal workings of its automatic movement. A multi step process is necessary to produce the silver opaline relief dial with its embossed and dyed numerals. Complete with luminous indices and skeleton hands. Water resistant to 200 m/ 20 bar this watch has a modern look coupled with the tradition and reliability you would expect from Fortis.   Appropriately, 2012 pieces have been produced.
